Welcome, dear friends!
While this blog was originally initiated to keep my family and friends in Germany posted about my aupair adventures in the USA, I now decided to kinda turn this whole thing around. I am back in Germany now for little over a month and keeping in touch with all of you is not that easy for me. So, I'd like to use this blog from now on to tell you guys back in North Carolina and all over the world what is going on in my life. I guess, it won't be as exciting as before, since I will be traveling a lot less, but letting you know what is happening here makes me feel more connected to you in a way. (By the way, using this blog in reverse means switching from German to English for me, so be patient with me and excuse possible grammar mistakes and misspellings - speaking is difficult enough, writing in English even more :) )
Ok, where to begin? Last month it was time to say goodbye to my American life. I was (and am) very sad and every time I think about North Carolina, I feel this lump in my throat. On the other hand, I was so excited to see my family and friends back home again. They gave me the warmest welcome and it was so nice to have them around me again. I spent a few days just hanging with my family and eating stuff I missed and doing things I missed. After a couple days, I moved back into my apartment in Cologne - aaah, this feeling of having my independence back is wonderful! Lars and me were finally happily reunited (but only for a few days, since he was only visiting). Together with his brother and his girlfriend, we celebrated Cologne Carnival.
I went back to work and now, real life has hit me again. But luckily, I had a highlight to look forward to! I traveled to Papenburg in the north of Germany to visit my dear fellow ex-aupair and super good friend Hilke. We had an awesome time! She showed me the beautiful town of Papenburg and we had a lot of fun together. It felt so good, to have a part of my NC life back and to reminisce about the good old times.
Now, my life is at a turning point again. Finally, after a nightmarish time of looking for an affordable apartment in Munich, Lars and me found a place! On top of that, I got a job in a marketing agency and I will start in April. After having to say goodbye to the USA, I will have to say goodbye to my home Cologne this month as well (How I hate these damn goodbyes!). Moving to Munich takes me a lot farther away from my family, but also A LOT closer to the best BF in the world! So I'm nervous but excited at the same time. I hope, me being in Munich will be an incentive to come visit me in Germany (Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest, Oktoberfest) :)
OK, folks, enjoy the pics and don't be strangers! Lots of love, Rebecca
